Women's Lacrosse Season Recap


Farmingdale, N.Y - The women's lacrosse team finished the year with a 13-2 record, including a perfect 8-0 in the Skyline Conference. The Rams, seeded #1 heading into the playoffs, defeated Kean in the Skyline semifinals and fell, 14-12, to Montclair State in the conference finals.

The Rams were led offensively by senior Krystin Shand (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) who scored 34 goals and had a school record 57 assists for 91 points this season. Shand ranked third in the nation in assists per game, fifth in assists and 11th in points per game. Freshman Nicole Marzocca (West Babylon, N.Y.) was tied for the team lead in goals with 39 and added 18 assists, while sophomore Jordyn Hasemann (Farmingdale, N.Y.) was third on the team scoring 35 goals.

Freshman Christy Thoden (Bayport, N.Y.) scored 39 goals and had a school record 119 draw controls. Thoden also set school records in draw controls in a single game (18), ground balls (64) and caused turnovers (40). She ranked fifth in the nation in draw controls and sixth in caused turnovers.

Senior goalkeeper Courtney Cook (Deer Park, N.Y.) held an impressive 6.49 goals against average this season. She was second in the country in goals against average and fourth in save percentage.

The Rams had seven players receive All-Conference honors this season. Cook was named Skyline Player of the Year, while Shand, Thoden and freshman Andrea Kiefer (Centereach, N.Y.) each were named First Team All-Skyline. Marzocca, Hasemann and senior Gina Ciaravino (Levittown, N.Y.) received Second Team honors.

The Rams will be graduating four seniors this season.
