- Cook named Player of the Year -
New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the 2012 All-Conference women's lacrosse selections on Monday, April 30th. Senior Courtney Cook (Deer Park, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Player of the Year, while senior Krystin Shand (Massapequa Park, N.Y.), freshman Christy Thoden (Bayport, N.Y.) and freshman Andrea Kiefer (Centereach, N.Y.) received First Team honors. Freshman Nicole Marzocca (West Babylon, N.Y.), sophomore Jordyn Hasemann (Farmingdale, N.Y.) and senior Gina Ciaravino (Levittown, N.Y.) were each named Second Team All-Conference.
Cook led the Skyline and is ranked second in the nation in goals against average and fourth in the country in save percentage.
Shand scored 34 goals and had a school-record 57 assists this season. She ranks third in Division III in assists per game and fifth in total assists. Thoden scored 39 goals and tallied 11 asssits for 50 points. Thoden set single season school-records with 119 draw contols and 64 ground balls. Kiefer picked up 30 ground balls and caused 21 turnovers to go along with six goals and two assists from her defensive position.
Marzocca scored 39 goals and added 18 assists for 57 points, while Hasemann had 35 goals, 30 ground balls and 27 draw controls. Ciaravino anchored Farmingdale State's defense and had 11 ground balls, eight caused turnovers and two goals.
