Rams Defeat Kean; Advance to Skyline Finals

#1 Farmingdale State - 21, #4 Kean - 5


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's lacrosse team defeated Kean, 21-5, in the semifinal round of the Skyline Conference playoffs this afternoon in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams improved to 13-1 overall and advance to the Skyline Finals for the first time since the 2009 season.

Farmingdale State scored 10 unanswered goals to start the game and led 10-0 with 13:50 remaining in the first half. The Rams increased their lead to 13-2 at the break.

In the second half, the Rams outscored Kean 8-3 and eventually defeated the Cougars 21-5.

Farmingdale State was led by junior attack Carly Schneider (Merrick, N.Y.) who had a game-high eight points, scoring six goals and adding two assists. Freshman attack Nicole Marzocca (West Babylon, N.Y.) scored four goals and tallied one assist, while freshman midfielder Christy Thoden (Bayport, N.Y.) had four goals, four ground balls and a game-high 12 draw controls.

Kean's (9-7) sophomore midfielder Ciara Mastrodomenico (Blairstown, N.J.) and junior attack Stephanie Tocko (Toms River, N.J.) each scored two goals.

Farmingdale State will host the winner of #2 Montclair State/#3 St. Joseph's in the Skyline Conference Finals on Saturday, April 28th at 1:00 p.m.
