Shand Leads Attack Past Knights

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Senior attack Krystin Shand (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) posted a game-high 11 points off four goals and seven assists, leading the Rams (7-1, 3-0) to a 20-2 victory over visiting Mount Saint Mary College (3-6, 1-2) today in a Skyline women's lacrosse game in Farmingdale, N.Y.

Shand opened the scoring with an unassisted goal just 1:28 in and the Rams added four more to hold the 5-0 lead midway through the first period. The Knights spoiled the shutout with 13:56 remaining in the half, on a goal by sophomore attack Amanda Giarrizzo (Franklin Square, N.Y.) to make it 5-1, but Farmingdale held the 8-2 lead at the break.

In the second, the Rams allowed no goals while scoring 12 to cruise to the victory and remain undefeated in the conference. 

Freshman midfielder Christy Thoden (Bayport, N.Y.) grabbed nine draw controls, while adding two goals, four ground balls and three caused turnovers. Freshman attack Nicole Marzocca (West Babylon, N.Y.) finished with four goals and two assists. Sophomore midfielder Jordyn Hasemann (Farmingdale, N.Y.) finished with three goals and one assist, while junior attack Carly Schneider (Merrick, N.Y.) tallied three goals.

Senior goalkeeper Courtney Cook (Deer Park, N.Y.) made 10 saves in the win for Farmingdale State, while freshman goalkeeper Lauren Beltrami (Islip, N.Y.) made 10 saves in defeat.

The Rams will now host Centenary College on Tuesday, April 3 in a non-conference game at 4:00 p.m.
