Rams Fall in Semifinals at Ramapo

#2 Ramapo - 15, #3 Farmingdale State - 11

Mahwah, N.J. - The Farmingdale State women's lacrosse team fell to second seeded Ramapo, 15-11, in the semifinals of the Skyline Conference playoffs this afternoon in Mahwah, N.J. The Rams (8-8) will now await word of an ECAC bid, while the Roadrunners will meet top-seed Montclair State in the Championship game.

Ramapo scored the first goal of the game in the first five minutes, before Farmingdale State sophomore attack Carly Schneider (Merrick, N.Y.) scored two straight and senior attack Justine Rothar (Levittown, N.Y.) scored on a free position to give the Rams a 3-1 lead.

The Roadrunners scored the next three to take back the lead, 4-3, before sophomore midfielder Emily Williams (Centerport, N.Y.) tied the game at 4-4 with 3:03 left in the first half. Ramapo's Amanda Barretta scored the final goal of the half, giving Ramapo the 5-4 advantage at the halftime break.

Two early goals by the Roadrunners in the second half gave them a three goal lead, but the Rams scored two to cut the lead to just one, 7-6. A four goal outburst by Ramapo would seemingly put the game out of reach, 13-7. Farmingdale scored four straight to make it 13-11, but could not complete the comeback and would fall 15-11.

Rothar finished the game with five goals and one assist. Junior goalkeeper Courtney Cook (Deer Park, N.Y.) made nine saves in defeat.
