Rams Win Big in First Conference Game

Farmingdale State - 17, Maritime College - 3


Throggs Neck, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's lacrosse team won 17-3 over conference opponent Maritime College on Saturday afternoon, improving to 2-2- over, 1-0 in the Skyline. The Privateers fall to 1-3, 0-1 with the loss. Junior midfielder Justine Rothar (Levittown, N.Y.) led the Rams with eight points (three goals and five assists).

 With a 9-1 lead at the half, Farmingdale State continued the pressure in the second. The Rams controlled the draws 15-6 and the ground balls 22-14. Junior goalkeeper Courtney Cook (Deer Park, N.Y.) made eight saves for the victory.

Sophomore midfielder Emily Williams (Centerport, N.Y.) scored a game-high four goals and added two assists for the day for Farmingdale State. Junior attack Krystin Shand (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) and junior Kim Rigney (Holbrook, N.Y.) added three goals each. Sophomore midfielder Kim Lehmann (Albertson, N.Y.) led the defense with four caused turnovers.

The Rams will now travel to Bard College on Saturday, March 26th for another Skyline game at 1:00 p.m.
