2011 Farmingdale State Women's Lacrosse Preview

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's lacrosse team will be led by first year Head Coach Katie Mollot. Coach Mollot comes to Farmingdale State from Colgate University, where she was an assistant coach the past two seasons. She takes over a program that finished last season with an 8-7 overall record and opens the 2011 campaign on March 12th at New Paltz.

Leading the attack is senior Justine Rothar (Levittown, N.Y.), who was named First Team All-Skyline after posting a program best 96 points (48 goals and 48 assists). Rothar now holds the Farmingdale State College single season assist record and is the school's all-time leading scorer with 222 career points. Sophomore Emily Williams (Centerport, N.Y.), a Second Team All-Conference selection, led the team and Skyline with a school record 63 goals last year.

Sophomore Kim Lehmann (Albertson, N.Y.), junior Chelsea Bjornsson (Levittown, N.Y.) and freshman Jordyn Hasemann (Farmingdale, N.Y.) will control the midfield for the Rams. Lehmann scored 26 goals and led the team with 53 ground balls and 35 caused turnovers. Bjornsson, who returns to Farmingdale State after leaving for one season, is expected to have an immediate impact on the team. Hasemann, a 2010 graduate of Farmingdale High School, will push to get into the starting lineup at the midfield position.

Defensively, the Rams are led by juniors Autumn Berndt (Brewster, N.Y.) Emalee Ciampo (Plainview, N.Y.) and Nassau Community College transfer Gina Ciaravino (Levittown, N.Y.). Berndt showed tremendous promise in the fall and is expected to start and play a key role on defense.

Junior Courtney Cook (Deer Park, N.Y.) will be the starting goalkeeper this year for Farmingdale State. She enters the 2011 season fully recovered from injury and the coaching staff expects her to return to the form of her freshman season when she was the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year.
