Mahwah, N.J. - The Farmingdale State women's lacrosse team defeated Ramapo College, 16-3, Saturday afternoon for a Skyline Conference win. The Rams won their second consecutive game, improving to 3-2 overall, 2-0 in the Skyline, while the Roadrunners dropped to 1-5, 0-1 in conference play.

Sophomore midfielder Justine Rothar (Levittown, N.Y./Division Ave.) opened the scoring for Farmingdale State with an unassisted goal six minutes into the game. Freshman midfielder Shannon Reardon (North Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon) scored 15 seconds later for the Rams, giving the team a 2-0 lead. Farmingdale increased its lead to 5-0, before freshman attack Christina Cigolini (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) scored on a free position shot at the 10:48 mark for Ramapo College. The Rams would take an 8-3 lead into the half, behind Reardon's four first half goals.

The Rams would shut out the Roadrunners in the second half and go on to win by a score of 16-3. 

Farmingdale State was led by Reardon, who added a free position goal in the second half, for a total of five in the game. Rothar, coming off her record setting game against Mount Saint Vincent, scored three goals and caused two turnovers for the Rams. Sophomore midfielder Jackie Messina (Nesconset, N.Y./Smithtown) scored three goals and had four draw controls, while senier midfielder Theresa Rokee (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) scored twice for Farmingdale State. Junior midfielder Jennifer Jung (Tuscon, AZ/Herricks - N.Y.) led the team with two assists.

Freshmen attackers Colleen Steel (Wyckoff, N.J./Ramapo), Sam Thompson (Cape May Court House, N.J./Middle Township) and Cigolini each scored a goal for the Roadrunners.

Freshman goalkeeper Emalee Ciampo (Plainview, N.Y./Plainview JFK) allowed only three goals and made five saves in the win for Farmingdale State, while junior goalie Megan Tierney (Wayne, N.J./Wayne) had 15 saves in the defeat for Ramapo.

The Rams will host Montclair State in a Skyline Conference game on Saturday, April 4th at 1:00pm.
