- Last year's team lost just one senior to graduation -

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's lacrosse team looks toward a big year after finishing the 2008 season with a 4-11 record, making their second straight appearance in the Skyline Playoffs, and only losing one senior to graduation.

The Rams bring back eight players from last year, including sophomore midfielder Justine Rothar (Levittown, N.Y./Division Ave), who was named Second Team All-Skyline after leading the team in scoring with 32 goals and 12 assists. Senior captain and midfielder Theresa Rokee (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) returns for her final season behind her 26 goals and team-leading 16 assists. Sophomore defender Chelsea Bjornsson (Levittown, N.Y./Division Ave) will anchor the defense once again, after leading the team with 41 ground balls. Sophomore midfielder Jackie Messina (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown) had a solid season of experience behind her and will use her speed and toughness in the midfield to improve on last years 31 draw controls.

Third year head coach Carrie Bolduc (Syracuse '99) and newly appointed assistants Lisa Scansarole (former Division Ave. Head Coach) and Erin Calkins (Eastern CT '07) have brought in a talented crew of transfers and rookies. Freshman goalkeeper Courtney Cook (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) will takeover in goal after the loss of Janine Forman to graduation. Other newcomers for the Rams will be transfers Kathy Waite (Levittown, N.Y./Division Ave.), sophomore midfielder Caitlin Brown (North Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon), along with freshman attacker Jessica Madeloni (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) and freshman midfielder Shannon Reardon (North Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon).
