Katie Mollot Named Head Coach for Women's Lacrosse

Farmingdale, N.Y. (6/8/10) - Mike Harrington, Director of Athletics at Farmingdale State, is pleased to announce that Katie Mollot has been named Head Women's Lacrosse Coach at Farmingdale State.

Mollot comes from Colgate University, where she was the assistant coach for the past two years and worked in all aspects of the Raiders' program. In her first season, she helped devise Colgate's defense, which ranked sixth best in the nation. The Raiders allowed six or less goals seven times while limiting the opposition to 8.74 goals per outing in the 2009 campaign, as they claimed the Patriot League title. This past season, the Raiders finished 9-8 overall, falling to Navy in the Patriot League Semifinals. Colgate finished ranked 7th in the Nation for ground balls (21.53).

A native of Holbrook, N.Y., Mollot earned her bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from Towson University in December 2008, where she was a member of two Colonial Athletic Association title teams. In 2008, she was named to the CAA All-Tournament team and helped the Tigers clinch their second league title in four years to advance to the NCAA Championships. During her collegiate career, she lettered four years at Towson and served as a co-captain her junior and senior seasons.  A four-year starter at defense, she posted six goals, four assists, 10 points, 84 ground balls, 21 draw controls and 24 caused turnovers for Towson.

Prior to her graduation, she served a three-month internship in physical therapy and then a four-month term as a strength and conditioning intern. Mollot has also served as a counselor for several lacrosse camps.

Mollot's father, Steve, has been a long-time lacrosse coach in Long Island, while her brother, Mike, played lacrosse at the University of Maryland and for the Bayhawks Major League Lacrosse team.

Mollot replaces Carrie Bolduc, who was the coach at Farmingdale State for the past four seasons.
