2010 Women's Lacrosse Season Recap

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women’s lacrosse team finished 8-7 overall and 6-2 in the Skyline under fourth year head coach Carrie Bolduc. The Rams defeated Mount Saint Mary in the Quarterfinals and fell to conference rival Ramapo in the Semifinals, but the highlights of this season were the record-breaking numbers these girls set with such a young team.

Junior attack Justine Rothar (Levittown, N.Y./Division Ave.) broke the school record for points in a season with 96, surpassing her own record from last year. She also broke the single season assists record, doubling her record from last year with 48 total assists, and she now stands as the schools All-Time leading scorer with 222 career points and an entire year left to play. Rothar finished the season with three Division III Top-Ten statistical rankings, including 4th for Assists per game, 7th for Points per game and 8th for Assists.

Senior midfielder Kathy Waite (Levittown, N.Y./Division Ave.) broke the school record for draw controls in a game with 14 and in a season, nearly doubling the school record with 78 total draw controls. Freshman midfielder Emily Williams (Centerport, N.Y./Harborfields) broke the school record for goals in a season with a team and conference-leading 63 goals, along with a school record 15 free position goals. Freshman midfielder Kim Lehmann (Albertson, N.Y./Herricks) broke school records for both ground balls with 53 and caused turnovers with 35.

The team had six players receive All-Conference recognition. Team captains Rothar, Waite and junior defender Caitlin Brown (North Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon) were each named First Team All-Skyline; while Williams, Lehmann and sophomore defender Emalee Ciampo (Plainview, N.Y./Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK) were named to the Second Team. Rothar was also named to the IWLCA Division III Boardwalk Region Second Team.

The team will return all but three players next season and is sure to be in sights of a Skyline Championship.
