#3 Farmingdale State - 15, #6 Mount Saint Mary - 4

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The No. 3 seed Farmingdale State women's lacrosse team defeated No. 6 seed Mount Saint Mary, 15-4, to advance to the Skyline Conference Semifinal game on Thursday afternoon at Ramapo College. Senior midfielder Kathy Waite* (Levittown, N.Y./Division Ave.) and freshman attack Victoria Perullo (Floral Park, N.Y./Floral Park) led the team with three goals apiece.

Freshman midfielder Sharon Cranwell (Putnam Valley, N.Y./Putnam Valley) opened the scoring at 26:17 to give the Blue Knights a 1-0 lead. The Rams answered with two unassisted goals from freshman midfielder Emily Williams (Centerport, N.Y./Harborfields) and a give-and-go goal by Waite, assisted by junior attack Justine Rothar* (Levittown, N.Y./Division Ave.) to take a 3-1 lead.

Junior midfielder Ellen Cashin (Rockaway Beach, N.Y./The Mary Louis Academy) made it 3-2 halfway through the first, before Perullo notched two straight goals, including the eventual game-winner with nine minutes to go in the half, as the Rams led 5-2 and took the lead into the break.

In the second half, Farmingdale held the Blue Knights to two goals, while holding the advantage in draw controls, 10-2, and shots, 21-7, as they went on for the 15-4 victory. The Rams outshot Mount Saint Mary 32-15 and won 13-of-20 draws for the day.

Rothar finished with two goals, four assists and three caused turnovers for Farmingdale State. Freshman midfielder Ashley Tsirigotis (Islip Terrace, N.Y./East Islip) scored two goals, one assist, six ground balls for the day. Waite grabbed four draws to push her school record total to 73 draw controls this year.

Mount Saint Mary sophomore defender Juliann LoStrappo (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) grabbed a game-high five draws. Sophomore goalkeeper Emily Folino (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Joseph by the Sea) made nine saves in defeat.

The Blue Knights finish their inaugural season with a 5-9 record and a first-ever trip to the Skyline Conference Tournament. The Rams (8-6) will travel to Ramapo College in Mahwah, N.J. for a 4:30 p.m. on Thursday afternoon.
