Farmingdale, N.Y. - A late goal in the second half lifted Ramapo College to victory, 13-12, over Farmingdale State today in a Skyline Conference women's lacrosse game. In a tight game that involved seven ties, neither team would lead by more than two goals throughout. Farmingdale State outshot Ramapo 38-39 and held a 26-16 advantage in ground balls.

In the first half, the Roadrunners scored the first two goals to take a quick 2-0 lead in the first two minutes. Freshman midfielder Emily Williams (Centerport, N.Y./Harborfields) scored at 4:32 to get the Rams back to within one, but sophomore attack Christina Cigolini (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) struck back to make it 7-5 just 26 seconds later. Waite scored her second of the day right before the half, assisted by Williams, to make the score at the break, 7-6 Ramapo.

Baretta scored the first goal of the second half at 27:02 to give the Roadrunners another two goal lead, before Farmingdale reeled off three straight to take their first lead of the day, 9-8, with 19 minutes on the clock. Baretta tied the score again, 9-9, on a free position goal.

Freshman midfielder Kim Lehmann (Albertson, N.Y./Herricks) added her only goal of the day to give the Rams their second lead, 10-9. But Ramapo scored the next three to take their fifth two-goal lead, 12-10 with 10 minutes to go.

With both teams using their possessions carefully over the final minutes, Farmingdale State was able to score on two free position goals by Williams and junior attack Justine Rothar* (Levittown, N.Y./Division Ave.) to tie the game at 12-12, but a last minute turnover would give Baretta the chance for the goal and would earn Ramapo the 13-12 victory.
