Rothar Breaks Three School Records in Rams Victory

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Junior attack Justine Rothar* (Levittown, N.Y./Division Ave.) broke three school records today in the Rams 25-6 victory over Skyline opponent Mount Saint Mary College (3-4, 1-2). Farmingdale State improved to 5-3, 4-1 in the conference with the win.

In the first half, the Rams held a 17-4 lead. Rothar tallied four goals and six assists for 10 points, breaking the single game assists record of five assists in a game, held by her former teammate Theresa Rokee since March 11, 2008. Rothar then went on in the second half to score two goals and two assists to finish with a total of 14 points today, breaking the single game points record of 12, which she set last season against the College of Mount Saint Vincent. Her eight assists in today's game gives her a total of 27 assists this season, which breaks her own school record for assists in a season (24) set in 2009. Rothar also tied the school record for caused turnovers in a game with five.

Farmingdale outscored the Blue Knights 8-2 in the second half for the 25-6 victory. Freshman attack Kim Lehmann (Albertson, N.Y./Herricks) and freshman midfielder Emily Williams (Centerport, N.Y./Harborfields) both finished with five goals and one assist. Junior midfielder Caitlin Brown* (North Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon) scored four goals, one assist and finished with a game-high seven draw controls. Senior midfielder Kathy Waite* (Levittown, N.Y./Division Ave.) tallied three goals and four assists.

Senior goalkeeper Courtney Caden (Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) got the win for the Rams making seven saves to improve her season record to 5-2 with a 9.38 goals against average.

For Mount Saint Mary, sophomore goalkeeper Emily Folino (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Joseph by the Sea) made seven saves in defeat. Freshman attack Kaileen Spadaro (Islip, N.Y./Islip) scored three goals and junior midfielder Ellen Cashin (Rockaway Beach, N.Y./The Mary Louis Academy) finished with two goals.

The Rams will now host Bard College in a Skyline Conference game on Saturday, April 10th at 3:00 p.m.
