Williams Leads Farmingdale Past Mount Saint Vincent

Riverdale, N.Y. - Freshman midfielder Emily Williams
(Centerport, N.Y./Harborfields) scored a game-high seven goals
leading Farmingdale State to a 21-12 win over Skyline Conference
opponent Mount Saint Vincent. The Rams improved to 4-3 overall and
3-1 in conference play.
Williams scored an unassisted goal 1:07 into the contest, giving the Rams an early 1-0 lead. Senior attack Kelly Martin (Stony Point, N.Y./North Rockland) answered four minutes later for Mount Saint Vincent (1-4, 1-2 Skyline) to even the score at 1-1, before Farmingdale scored seven straight goals, opening up an 8-1 advantage with 3:10 to play in the first half. The Rams took an 11-4 lead into the break.
Senior midfielder Kathy Waite (Levittown, N.Y./Division Ave.) extended the lead with an unassisted goal 58 seconds into the second half. Mount Saint Vincent's Erin Woerner (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) scored on a free position shot 28 seconds later, but the Rams responded with goals from Williams, junior attack Justine Rothar (Levittown, N.Y./Division Ave.) and sophomore midfielder Kim Rigney (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North), to increase the lead to 15-5 with 26:40 remaining.
Leading 18-10, Williams scored two goals in 25 seconds for the
Rams, bringing the lead back to 10. Farmingdale would go on to win
21-12 for the Skyline win.
Rothar had four goals and five assists, while Waite added four goals, one assist and had six draw controls for the Rams. Freshman defender Victoria Perullo (Floral Park, N.Y./Floral Park) pitched in with two scores.
The Dolphins were led by Woerner and senior midfielder Katie Tucci (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Baker) who each had four goals.
Senior goalkeeper Courtney Caden (Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) started in goal and made eight saves in the first half and sophomore Courtney Cook (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) had five saves over the final 30 minutes for Farmingdale State. Senior goalie Jackie Horn (Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) recorded 14 saves in the loss.
The Rams will host Mount Saint Mary on Thursday, April 8th at 4:00 p.m.
