- Rams open up against No. 16 Stevens on March 1st -

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women’s lacrosse team, under fourth year Head Coach Carrie Bolduc, will be defending their first-ever Skyline Conference Title in 2010, after outscoring their opponents by 119 goals last year. In 2009, the Rams went undefeated in regular-season conference play (7-0) and posted a program best 11-4 overall record, while making their first trip to the Division III NCAA Tournament.

Highlighting the attack and midfield is junior Justine Rothar (Division Ave.), who was named the 2009 Skyline Conference Player of the Year after scoring a single-season program record 82 points – 58 goals and 24 assists. Joining Rothar up front will be sophomore Kim Rigney (Sachem North), a transfer from Utica; sophomore Krystin Schand (Massapequa), a transfer from Molloy; and freshmen Emily Williams (Harborfields) and Ashley Tsirigotis (East Islip).

Junior defensive midfielder Caitlin Brown (North Babylon), who was just named a team tri-captain, will once again be looked upon for her speed on transition, while freshman Jackie Gunn (Farmingdale) joins her on the defensive side. Sophomore Emalee Ciampo (POB-JFK) converted this year from a goalkeeper to a defender and will help out in front of the cage.

Sophomore goalie Courtney Cook (Deer Park), who was named the 2009 Skyline Rookie of the Year, All-Region and to the Womenslacrosse.com All-Rookie Team, will look to add to her accolades in net. Cook finished the year with a .590 save percentage, which ranked #4 in the Nation amongst Division III goalies. Senior Courtney Caden (Ward Melville) is playing her first season with the team and will also get starts between the pipes.

The team tri-captains this season are: Justine Rothar, Caitlin Brown and senior Kathy Waite (Division Ave.).
