2007 Women's Lacrosse Season Recap
May 18, 2007

The Farmingdale State women's lacrosse team finished the year with a 7-7 overall record under first year head coach Carrie Bolduc and received the teams first-ever bid to the ECAC Tournament. In the regular season, Farmingdale finished in a three-way tie for 4th place in the Skyline and missed out on the post-season tournament by virtue of margin of victory in conference play. The team will graduate three players and will see two transfers depart from the roster, but will continue to set the bar high as they build a strong program.

Offensively, the team was led by senior Natalie Budinich (East Northport, N.Y./Commack), freshman captain Jennifer Jung (New Hyde Park, N.Y./Herricks) and sophomore captain Theresa Rokee (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst). These three players finished with a combined 111 goals and 47 assists. Budinich was the leader in assists, while JJ scored 38 goals and ranked 47th in the Nation for goals per game. Rokee tallied a team-leading 40 goals and 16 assists, while also leading the team in ground balls and draw controls.

Senior Andrea MacIntyre (Mount Sinai, N.Y./Mount Sinai) and sophomore Stephanie Phelan (Nesconset, N.Y./Sachem) were the defensive standouts, along with sophomore captain Jessica Kramer (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) who made the move to defensive wing after a rookie season as a low attacker. MacIntyre led the team in caused turnovers and came a long way since joining the team three years ago, while Phelan was a positive addition to the defensive unit.

Junior goalkeeper Janine Forman (North Massapequa, N.Y./Plainedge) had another great season finishing with a 56-percent save percentage, ranking 19th in the Nation among all Division III goalies. She also lowered her goals against average by four points to 11.83 goals allowed per game. Janine set a career-high of 26 saves in a game on April 14th and had nine games with double-digits in saves.

The team will lose two players who are transferring in sophomore midfielders Nicole Brett (Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) and Christina Gagliardo (Dix Hills, N.Y./Holy Trinity). Brett was a solid player for the Rams, scoring 12 goals as a defensive wing. She will be missed with her tough play on defense and smart decisions on offense. Gagliardo, who never played lacrosse before coming to Farmingdale, thrived over the second half of the season, scoring her first-ever goal against Manhattanville and adding four more over the next five games.

With a solid crew coming back and a shake-up in the Conference next year, the Rams will look to jump into the conference playoffs with the help of some talented newcomers.
