Baltimore, Md. – The College of Notre Dame of Maryland closed its regular-season schedule with an 18-10 non-conference victory over Farmingdale State College on Saturday afternoon at Alumnae Field.
Senior midfielder Tina Money (Shady Side, Md./Queen Anne's County High School) and junior midfielder Anne Shippen (Mount Airy, Md./Glenelg Country Day School) each scored four goals for Notre Dame. Money had two assists, and Shippen had one.
Money put the Gators on the scoreboard 43 seconds into the game off an assist by Shippen. The Rams (7-6) then tied the score on an unassisted goal by senior attacker Natalie Budinich (East Northport, N.Y./Commack) 28 seconds later.
Notre Dame went on 12-0 run over the next 24 minutes to take a 13-1 lead with 11:49 to play in the first half.
Money scored all four of her goals during that stretch, while junior attacker Amelia Yatto (Crofton, Md./St. Mary's High School) scored two of her three goals.
After Notre Dame took a 13-1 lead, Farmingdale scored six of the next seven goals to close to deficit to 14-7. The Gators, however, again went on a run, scoring five of six goals, three by Shippen.
Money led all players with nine draw controls and six caused turnovers in the game.
Budinich led the Rams with three goals, while sophomore midfielder Nicole Brett (Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon), sophomore midfielder Theresa Rokee (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) and freshman midfielder Jennifer Jung (New Hyde Park, N.Y./Herricks) all scored two.
With an over .500 record for the first time in program history, Farmingdale State will await the possibility of an ECAC bid next week.
