Rams Finish Strong in Season Opening Win

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's lacrosse team (1-0) defeated Western Connecticut (0-2) 19-9 in today's 2007 season opening game in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams held a 7-4 lead at halftime and came out flying in the second, scoring four quick goals in the first four minutes. The Colonials cut the lead back to make it 13-9 with 12 minutes to go, before Farmingdale connected six more times and finished strong for the victory.

Rams senior Natalie Budinich (East Northport, N.Y./Commack) finished with a team-leading six points on four goals and two assists. Sophomore Theresa Rokee (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) and freshman Jennifer Jung (New Hyde Park, N.Y./Herricks) both added four goals apiece. Sophomore Jessica Kramer (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) scored three goals. Junior goalkeeper Janine Forman (North Massapequa, N.Y./Plainedge) made 24 saves in the win.

For Western Connecticut, senior Cuyler Rush (New Milford, Conn./New Milford) led the team with three goals. Junior Caitlin Everin (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) and freshman Kara Kruczkiewicz (Brookfield, Conn./Brookfield) each scored two goals.

Farmingdale State will travel to play Georgian Court in Lakewood, N.J. on Sunday, March 18th for a non-conference game at 1:00pm.
