Kennedy's Double-Double Leads St. Joseph's-Brooklyn Past FSC

BROOKLYN, N.Y. | St. Joseph's-Brooklyn sophomore guard Grace Kennedy tallied a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Bears to a Skyline win over Farmingdale State, 82-43, on Saturday. The FSC women's basketball team fell to 3-10 overall and 2-6 in the conference, while SJBK improved to 5-6, 3-4.

St. Joseph's-Brooklyn controlled play in the first quarter and jumped out to a 26-7 lead heading into the second. 

The Rams opened the second quarter with 3-pointer by sophomore guard Isabella Greenwald (West Islip, N.Y.) to cut their deficit to 16. 

Following a basket by the Bears, Greenwald made a layup before freshman guard Victoria Kantzian (Staten Island, N.Y.) registered three points to close within 13 at 28-15.

After a Destiny Hurt layup for SJBK, Greenwald hit another 3-pointer as the gap moved to 12. 

Farmingdale trailed by 12 at the start of the third quarter and used a layup by junior forward Tiffany Sosa (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) to make it a 10-point game, 36-26.

St. Joseph's-Brooklyn responded with a 7-0 run to increase their advantage to 43-26.

FSC was down by 12 heading into the fourth quarter and was outscored 30-3 as the Bears went on for the 82-43 Skyline win.

Sosa recorded 10 points and four rebounds, while sophomore guard Jenna Pignataro (Farmingville, N.Y.) notched 10 points, two assists and two steals. Greenwald registered eight points and eight rebounds off the bench and senior guard Emily Zeblisky (Northport, N.Y.) pulled down seven boards with two assists and a steal in the loss.

Along with Kennedy, Emma Kiley tallied a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds for SJBK.

Farmingdale State will next play host to Skyline opponent St. Joseph's-Long Island on Wednesday, January 11th at 6:00 p.m.
