Manhattanville Improves to 9-0 with Win Over FSC

Manhattanville - 65, Farmingdale State - 30


PURCHASE, N.Y. | The FSC women's basketball team fell to Manhattanville, 65-30, in a Skyline Conference road game this afternoon. The Rams dropped to 3-7 overall and 2-4 in conference play, while the Valiants remain perfect on the season at 9-0 overall and 6-0 in the Skyline.

Manhattanville led 6-4 in the opening minutes before scoring five straight points to go up by seven. 

FSC followed with a layup by junior forward Tiffany Sosa (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) and a 3-pointer by senior guard Emily Pohalski (Huntington, N.Y.) in a 5-1 run to close within three at 12-9.

The Valiants held a 15-11 advantage at the end of the first quarter and opened the second with a 3-pointer. Farmingdale State freshman guards Adrianna Romo-Leroux (Selden, N.Y.) and Victoria Kantzian (Staten Island, N.Y.) answered with back-to-back layups to once again cut the deficit to three, 18-15.

Over the final eight minutes of the second quarter, MVL did not allow another FSC basket as they went on an 8-0 run to take a 26-15 advantage.

Manhattanville continued their run into the third, scoring 15 of the first 17 points in the quarter to open up a commanding 41-17 lead.

The Valiants led 51-23 after the third and outscored the Rams 14-7 in the fourth as they went on for the 65-30 win.

Freshman forward Lissette Cordero (West Babylon, N.Y.) led FSC with 12 points, five rebounds, three steals and three blocked shots. Pohalski and Sosa had five points apiece, while sophomore guard Erin Conte (Melville, N.Y.) registered four points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Julianna Kascic produced a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds for Manhattanville.

Farmingdale State next will play host to Hunter College in a non-conference game on Friday, December 30th at noon.
