Muller, Ricketts Record Double-Doubles in Rams Win at Sarah Lawrence

Farmingdale State - 73, Sarah Lawrence - 61


Bronxville, N.Y. - The FSC women's basketball team earned a 73-61 conference victory at Sarah Lawrence this afternoon behind double-doubles from freshman forwards Samantha Muller (North Babylon, N.Y.) and Kalena Ricketts (Cambria Heights, N.Y.).

With the game knotted at 11-11 late in the first quarter, Rams' (12-10, 10-9 Skyline) senior guard Anna Zaborowska (East Patchogue, N.Y.) hit a pair of 3-pointers in an 11-1 run to put Farmingdale State in front, 22-12.

After each team scored just 13 points apiece in the second quarter, FSC opened the third with an 11-1 run, including five points by Muller, to take a 46-26 advantage.

The Gryphons (7-16, 5-15 Skyline) trailed 50-32 and outscored FSC, 9-2, over the final three minutes of the third to cut their deficit to 52-41.

After Sarah Lawrence converted a three-point play to open the fourth quarter, Farmingdale State used layups from freshman forward Layla Mendoza (Westhampton Beach, N.Y.) and Muller to regain a 12-point lead, 56-44.

The Rams still led by 12, 65-53, with 4:32 on the clock and used a Muller layup and four points by Mendoza to take an 18-point advantage, 71-53.

Farmingdale State was held to just two free-throws down the stretch but held on for the 73-61 conference victory.

Muller finished with 25 points and a career-high 15 rebounds, while Ricketts tallied 11 points, 12 rebounds and five assists. Mendoza recorded 20 points and seven rebounds and Zaborowska notched 15 points, nine rebounds and five assists in the win. 

As a team, FSC pulled down 63 rebounds, a mark that ranks sixth all-time in program history.

The Rams will close out their regular season schedule with a home game against Old Westbury tomorrow, Sunday, February 20th at 1:00 p.m.
