Rams Fall at First-Place Mount Saint Mary

Newburgh, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's basketball team traveled to Mount Saint Mary College for a Skyline Conference game on Monday night and were defeated, 81-34. The Rams now sit at 9-9 on the season and 7-8 in the conference, while the first-place Knights improved to 16-3, 14-1.

FSC scored the opening basket before 12 straight Mount Saint Mary points gave the Knights a 12-2 advantage late in the first quarter. After an Anna Zaborowska (East Patchogue, N.Y.) layup ended the MSMC run, the Knights closed with a Charlotte Twohig (Syosset, N.Y.) jumper and Morina Bojka (Prospect, Conn.) 3-pointer to go up, 17-4 after one.

Mount Saint Mary outscored Farmingdale State 21-9 in the second quarter and took a 38-13 lead into the break. In the first half, the Knights were led senior guard Katie Smith (Goshen, N.Y.) who had 12 points, while Zaborowska had a team-high six points for the Rams.

MSMC opened the third with a 9-0 run to extend the advantage to 47-13 with 7:25 on the clock. The Rams followed with a quick 5-2 spurt before a 12-2 run to close the quarter put Mount Saint Mary ahead, 61-20.

In the fourth, FSC was outscored 20-14 as they fell, 81-34.

Zaborowska finished the night with a team-high nine points for the Rams.

Bojka recorded a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds to go along with a game-high five assists, while Smith added 14 points.

FSC next will host Old Westbury in a Skyline Conference matchup on Thursday, February 10th at 6:00 p.m.
