FSC Picks Up Conference Road Win at Yeshiva

Farmingdale State - 69, Yeshiva - 47


Riverdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's basketball team earned a 69-47 win over Skyline Conference opponent Yeshiva University on Wednesday night. The Rams improved to 9-8 overall and an even 7-7 in conference action, while the Maccabees fell to 6-10, 4-10.

The Rams scored the first 10 points to open up a 10-0 lead. It took Yeshiva over eight minutes to get into the scoring column which came on a pair of free-throws. After the deficit was cut to 10-4, FSC freshman forward Samantha Muller (North Babylon, N.Y.) closed the quarter with back-to-back 3's to give the Rams a 16-4 advantage. The Farmingdale State defense held the Maccabees to 1-of-16 shooting (6.3%) in the first quarter.

With 3:16 remaining in the first half, YU sophomore guard Shai Rahamim (Ramat Gan, Israel) connected on a 3-pointer to cut the deficit to eight, 23-15. FSC answered with a Mackenzie Tierney (Levittown, N.Y.) layup and 1-of-2 free-throws by junior guard Anna Zaborowska (East Patchogue, N.Y.) on their next two possessions to go back in front by double-digits, 26-15. The Rams took a 28-20 lead into the break as Muller led the way with 14 points and six rebounds.

After Yeshiva closed to within five midway through the third, Farmingdale State followed with an 8-0 run, which saw 3's by both Jenna Pignataro (Farmingville, N.Y.) and Erin Conte (Melville, N.Y.), to go up 43-30.

The Rams entered the final quarter with a 16-point lead and outscored the Maccabees 21-15 in the fourth en route to the 69-47 victory.

Muller finished the night with a double-double on a game-high 20 points and 10 rebounds, while freshman forward Kalena Ricketts (Cambria Heights, N.Y.) scored 16 points on 8-of-13 shooting and secured 11 boards. Conte tallied a career-best 10 points after shooting 4-of-7 from the field. Zaborowska dished out a game-high nine assists to go along with eight points and five rebounds in the win.

For Yeshiva, sophomore guard Daniella Bessler (Brookline, Mass.) led the team in both scoring (15 points) and rebounds (10).

The Rams next host Old Westbury in a Skyline Conference game on Saturday, February 5th at 11:00 a.m.
