Manhattanville - 68, Farmingdale State - 37


Purchase, N.Y. - The FSC women's basketball team traveled to Manhattanville for a Skyline Conference game on Tuesday night and fell, 68-37. The Rams dropped to 8-8 overall and 6-7 in Skyline play, while the Valiants improved to 13-5, 9-4.

Trailing 11-8 midway through the first, Manhattanville closed on an 11-2 run to open up a six-point lead after one.

Farmingdale State freshman forward Samantha Muller (North Babylon, N.Y.) opened the second quarter with a 3-pointer before a 7-0 Valiants run capped off by an Ali Mikaele (Silver Springs, Md.) 3 put Manhattanville ahead by 10. The Rams went into the break down 32-20 after a low scoring second quarter.

Trailing 34-20 early in the third, freshman forward Layla Mendoza (Westhampton Beach, N.Y.) recorded three straight layups to cut the FSC deficit to eight, 34-26. Over the final 7:22 of the quarter, Manhattanville outscored Farmingdale State 14-3 to extend their advantage to 48-29.

The Rams were outscored 20-8 in the fourth as they fell, 68-37.

Mendoza led the way for FSC with a team-high 12 points, while Muller had 10 points, nine rebounds and three steals.

The Valiants had three double-digit scorers led by Mikaele's game-high 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting.  

The Rams next will travel to play Skyline Conference opponent Yeshiva University (@ Mount Saint Vincent) on Thursday, February 3rd at 8:00 p.m.
