Rams Fall in Championship Game at Roadrunner Tip-Off Tournament

Ramapo - 71, Farmingdale State - 46


Mahwah, N.J. - The Farmingdale State women's basketball team squared off against host school Ramapo in the championship game of the Roadrunner Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday afternoon and fell, 71-46. FSC senior guard Nia Miller (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and junior guard Alexis Hunter (Brooklyn, N.Y.) were each named to the All-Tournament Team.

Leading 16-14 at the start of the second, Ramapo (4-0) used a 10-0 run over the first 4:10 of the quarter to extend the advantage to 12. Hunter ended the Ramapo run with a pair of free-throws but freshman guard Bridgett Cahill (River Edge, N.Y.) answered with a 3 on the next Roadrunners possession. Ramapo outscored the Rams (2-2) 8-2 over the final minutes of the quarter and took a 38-18 lead into halftime.

After Farmingdale State junior guard Anna Zaborowska (East Patchogue, N.Y.) hit a 3-pointer to open the third quarter, the Roadrunners followed with five straight jump shots to increase the lead to 27 at 48-21 with 7:16 on the clock. The Rams responded with a 7-2 run which saw five points by Miller and two from Hunter to cut the deficit to 50-28 with 3:31 remaining.

With 7:33 left to play in the fourth quarter, Ramapo senior center Jessica Repsay (Fredon, N.J.), who was named the Tournament MVP, brought the lead back to 30 as she connected on a jump shot and free-throw after being fouled. The Roadrunners led by at least 23 points the remainder of the game as they earned the 71-46 victory.

Hunter led the way for FSC with a team-high 14 points and seven rebounds, while Miller recorded seven points, seven rebounds, three steals and three assists.

Repsay finished the day with a double-double on 13 points and a game-high 12 boards, while senior guard Stacey Porzl (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.) and junior center Alie Wickersheim (Maywood, N.J.) each added 13 points in the win.

Farmingdale State next will open Skyline Conference play when they host St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on Saturday, November 23rd at noon.
