Hurt Named ECAC Metro Player of the Month for January

Danbury, Conn. - The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) released its monthly award winners for January on Thursday, February 7th and Farmingdale State sophomore guard Destiny Hurt (Long Beach, N.Y.) has been named the Metro Region Player of the Month.

In January, Hurt averaged 20.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.7 steals in 10 games and was twice named to the Skyline Conference Player of the Week honor roll.

On January 15th, she earned a spot on the honor roll after tallying 19.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists in three games from Jan. 7-13. Her second time on the Skyline Conference weekly honor roll was on January 21st when she averaged 22 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 2.0 assists in the week prior.

In a 90-26 win over Sarah Lawrence College on January 31st, Hurt closed out the month scoring a career-best 36 points and broke the school record for most field goals made in one game with 17. She recorded 20+ points in six of the ten games played in January.

Hurt and the women's basketball team next return to action on Saturday, February 9th when they host conference opponent St. Joseph's-Brooklyn at noon.
