Farmingdale, N.Y. - In a Skyline Conference women's basketball game this evening, Farmingdale State sophomore forward Alexis Hunter (Brooklyn, N.Y.) recorded 10 points and 31 rebounds to lead the Rams past St. Joseph's-Long Island, 78-42. Hunter's 31 rebounds surpassed the previous school record of 26 set by Farmingdale State Hall of Famer Kimberly Blakney. With the win, FSC improved to 7-15 overall and 7-8 in Skyline play.

The Rams opened the game with back-to-back 3's by senior guard Selena LaFranca (Smithtown, N.Y.) and junior guard Nia Miller (Brooklyn, N.Y.) to take a quick 6-0 lead. After a basket from Golden Eagles (3-19, 2-13 Skyline) sophomore forward Lindsey McKenna (Wading River, N.Y.), Farmingdale State used a 13-0 run, including a trio of 3-pointers from LaFranca, to take a 17-point advantage, 19-2, with 4:02 left in the first quarter.

SJC-LI trailed 26-10 just two minutes into the second and would score a pair of layups to cut the deficit to 12. FSC answered by outscoring the Golden Eagles 11-1 over the final 7:10 to take a 37-15 lead into the halftime break.

LaFranca knocked down five 3's for 15 first half points, while Hunter pulled down 18 rebounds in the first 20 minutes.

At the start of the third quarter, the Rams used back-to-back layups from Miller and Hunter to go in front 41-15. After a St. Joseph's-Long Island layup, Miller and sophomore guard Destiny Hurt (Long Beach, N.Y.) combined for five unanswered points to put Farmingdale State ahead 46-17.

Leading by 27, 48-21, with 4:41 remaining in the third, a Hurt layup, Miller 3-pointer and layup from sophomore forward Kelsey Voiklis (Commack, N.Y.) gave the Rams a 55-21 advantage.

FSC led 61-25 after three quarters and would score 17 points in the fourth as they went on for the 78-42 conference victory.

Hunter tallied three assists and two blocks to go along with her record-setting 31 rebounds. Hurt finished with a game-high 21 points on 8-for-19 shooting, while LaFranca registered a season-high 17 points. Miller produced a double-double with 12 points and 11 assists and Voiklis ended with eight points and 10 rebounds.

For St. Joe's, freshman guard Alyssa Signor (Farmingville, N.Y.) recorded a team-high 21 points.

FSC next hosts conference opponent St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on Saturday, February 9th at noon on Senior Day.
