Farmingdale State - 69, Mount Saint Vincent - 52


Riverdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's basketball team outscored Mount Saint Vincent 29-4 in the first quarter en route to the 69-52 Skyline Conference road victory on Tuesday night. With the win, the Rams improved to 3-10 overall and 3-5 in the conference, while the Dolphins dropped to 3-10, 2-6.

Leading 3-2 with 7:48 remaining in the first, Farmingdale State went on a 19-0 run, which saw three 3's by Nia Miller (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and two from Jami Cardenas (Bay Shore, N.Y.), to go out in front, 22-2. The Rams outscored Mount Saint Vincent 6-2 over the final 3:21 of the quarter to take a 25-point advantage.

In a low scoring second quarter, the Dolphins edged FSC, 13-7, to cut the deficit to 36-17 heading into the break. In the first half, Miller led the Rams with 13 points, while sophomore guard Destiny Hurt (Long Beach, N.Y.) added 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting.

Trailing 40-20, the Dolphins tallied the next eight points, including six from sophomore forward Aria Rheams (Alexandria, VA) and two by freshman forward Fatima Monsour (Brooklyn, N.Y.), to cut the Farmingdale State lead to 12 with 7:49 left in the third. FSC poured in four 3-pointers on their next four possessions to go back on top by 20, 52-32.

Leading 55-37 entering the fourth, the Rams opened with a Hurt layup and Cardenas 3 to extend the advantage to 23. Farmingdale State led by as many as 25 in the fourth quarter as they earned the 69-52 road win.

Hurt scored a game-high 25 points on 10-of-18 shooting, while Miller added 19 points and game-highs in both assists (6) and steals (4). Sophomore forward Alexis Hunter (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had six points and 10 boards in the victory.

For CMSV, junior forward Dez Brown (Riverhead, N.Y.) led the way with a team-high 14 points (5-of-10 shooting) and five rebounds.

Farmingdale State next will travel to Purchase on Thursday, January 10th at 6:00 p.m. for a Skyline Conference game.
