Albertus Magnus Improves to 5-0 with Win Over FSC

New Haven, Conn. - On Thursday evening, the Farmingdale State women's basketball team traveled to New Haven, Connecticut to play Albertus Magnus in a non-conference game and lost, 75-45. FSC dropped to 0-4, while the Falcons improved to a perfect 5-0 overall.

In the opening minutes of the contest, the Rams jumped out to a 6-2 advantage on a pair of 3's by junior guard Nia Miller (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and sophomore guard Jami Cardenas (Bay Shore, N.Y.). Albertus Magnus senior guard Jill Johnson (North Haven, Conn.) responded by scoring the games next 10 points to put the Falcons ahead 12-6. Albertus Magnus closed the quarter on a 12-0 run as they entered the second leading by 18, 24-6.

Over the first 5:22 of the second quarter, FSC freshman guard Stacy Papantoniou (Whitestone, N.Y.) and junior forward Christina Rayfield (Commack, N.Y.) each hit a jumper before Miller knocked down a 3 and sophomore forward Alexis Hunter (Brooklyn, N.Y.) hit a layup to cut the deficit to 24-15. The Falcons would respond and close out the quarter with a 15-4 run to head into the half leading 39-19.

Albertus Magnus outscored Farmingdale State 17-7 in the third quarter before each team scored 19 in the fourth as the Falcons earned the non-conference victory, 75-45.

Miller tallied a team-high 11 points and five assists, while Rayfield recorded eight points, six rebounds and three steals. Hunter pulled down a career-high 18 rebounds and has now registered double-digit rebounds in 3-of-4 contests this season.

Albertus Magnus was led by junior center Rah Rah Thompson (Bridgeport, Conn.) who produced 16 points and a game-high 22 rebounds. Junior guard Shyla Osmond (New Haven, Conn.) and Johnson finished with 18 and 15 points, respectively.

FSC next travels to Old Westbury for a conference game on Tuesday, December 4th at 7:00 p.m.
