Rams Roll Past Sarah Lawrence in Skyline Action

Farmingdale State - 93, Sarah Lawrence - 35


Bronxville, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's basketball team traveled to Bronxville, N.Y. for a Skyline Conference matchup with Sarah Lawrence on Thursday evening and earned a 93-35 victory.

The Rams (11-10, 10-4), who jumped out to a 19-0 lead over the opening 6:45 of play, held a 25-7 advantage after the first quarter.

Farmingdale State led 39-18 with 1:04 left in the second and closed the half with back-to-back 3's by senior guard Kaelyn Ward (East Hampton, N.Y.) to go into the break on top, 45-18. Junior guard Alexis Antonacci (Plainview, N.Y.) tallied 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting, including 4-for-5 from behind the arc for FSC, while SLC (1-17, 0-13) junior guard Taryn Penna (Sparta, N.J.) scored 11 of the Gryphons 18 first half points.

Leading 47-22 with 8:26 remaining in the third, FSC used a 16-0 run over the next 5:57 to extend the advantage to 41 at 63-22. The Rams entered the fourth in front, 66-25 and outscored Sarah Lawrence 27-10 in the final quarter en route to the 93-35 victory.

Antonacci led all scorers with a game-high 19 points to go along with nine rebounds and five assists, while Ward recorded 15 points, eight rebounds, four steals and a game-high six assists. Senior guard Liz Durchhalter (Franklin Square, N.Y.) added 16 points and four steals in the win.

The Gryphons were led by Penna and junior forward Emmamazy Prior (Germantown, N.Y.) who scored 15 and 14 points, respectively.

Farmingdale State next will host Mount Saint Mary in a Skyline Conference game on Wednesday, February 7th at 5:30 p.m.
