Ward and Casey Card Double-Doubles in FSC Victory

Farmingdale State - 91, Sarah Lawrence - 26


Farmingdale, N.Y. - Seniors Kaelyn Ward (East Hampton, N.Y.) and Essence Casey (Huntington Station, N.Y.) each recorded double-doubles as the FSC women's basketball team defeated Sarah Lawrence, 91-26, in a Skyline Conference game this evening. The Rams improved to 4-6 overall and 3-1 in the Skyline, while the Gryphons dropped to 1-7, 0-4.

Farmingdale State opened the game by scoring the first 15 points to go out in front, 15-0, with 6:00 remaining in the first quarter. Leading 19-7, FSC used a Ward jump shot and layup to extend the advantage to 23-7.

The Rams led by 20, 33-13, and outscored SLC 14-3 over the final 6:03 of the second quarter to go into halftime ahead, 47-16. Ward and Casey each registered 12 points, while senior guard Liz Durchhalter (Franklin Square, N.Y.) hit three 3-pointers for nine first half points.

In the third, Farmingdale State held the Gryphons to only 2-of-13 shooting and four points as they extended the advantage to 71-20. FSC outscored SLC 20-6 in the final quarter en route to the 91-26 victory.

Ward led all scorers with 20 points to go along with 10 rebounds and five steals, while Casey had 18 points and game-highs in both rebounds (14) and assists (6). Durchhalter finished the night with 15 points on five 3's and had a game-high six steals and freshman guard Angeline Klein (Levittown, N.Y.) recorded a career-high 10 points in the win.

Farmingdale State next travels to Mount Saint Mary for a Skyline Conference matchup on Thursday, December 14th at 7:00 p.m.
