Rams Roll in Conference Opener at Yeshiva

New Rochelle, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's basketball team opened Skyline Conference play with a 98-52 victory over Yeshiva on Tuesday night at The College of New Rochelle.

The Rams (2-4, 1-0) started quick by scoring the first 10 points of the game and closed the quarter on an 8-0 run to extend the advantage to 28-10 after one.

Leading 29-10 with 8:42 left to play in the second, FSC used a Jasmine Sapp (Islip, N.Y.) jumper and layup from Essence Casey (Huntington Station, N.Y.) to go in front, 33-10. Over the final 2:47 of the quarter, Farmingdale State outscored Yeshiva (1-4, 0-1) 8-3 and took a 49-20 lead into halftime.

After YU senior forward Michal Alge (Boston, Mass.) opened the third quarter with a layup, FSC followed with a 14-0 run which saw eight points, including two 3-pointers, by junior guard Alexis Antonacci (Plainview, N.Y.).

The Rams led by as many as 47 in the fourth quarter en route to the 98-52 Skyline Conference victory.

Antonacci scored a team-high 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting and added a game-high six assists and five rebounds, while senior guard Liz Durchhalter (Franklin Square, N.Y.) tallied 16 points (6-for-11), six rebounds and four steals. Freshman guard Khandra Rhoden (Brentwood, N.Y.) added 13 points, five assists, seven boards and a game-high seven steals in the win.

The Maccabees were led by Alge who recorded a double-double with game-highs in both points (20) and rebounds (18).

Farmingdale State next will host Old Westbury in a conference game on Thursday, November 30th at 6:00 p.m.
