FSC Drops Non-Conference Matchup at Stony Brook

Stony Brook - 76, Farmingdale State - 25


Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's basketball team traveled to Division I Stony Brook University this afternoon for a non-conference game and fell, 76-25.

FSC (1-4) grabbed an early 2-0 advantage as senior forward Essence Casey (Huntington Station, N.Y.) opened the game with a jumper, assisted by junior guard Alexis Antonacci (Plainview, N.Y.), only 1:18 in.

The Rams held the Seawolves (4-0) scoreless through the first 4:55 of the game until junior forward Cheyenne Clark (Deptford, N.J.) tied the game 2-2 after an offensive rebound and layup.

Stony Brook closed the quarter on a 14-2 run and took a 12-point lead into the second quarter, 16-4.

Trailing 20-6 with 5:59 remaining in the second, Rams senior forward Jasmine Sapp (Islip, N.Y.) registered a layup and freshman guard Khandra Rhoden (Brentwood, N.Y.) was fouled and hit 1-of-2 at the line to cut the deficit to 11, 20-9. 

The Seawolves would hold a 34-12 lead at the break and outscored Farmingdale State 42-13 in the second half as they earned the 76-25 non-conference victory.

The Rams were led by Casey who produced team-high's with eight points, eight rebounds and two blocks. FSC senior guard Kaelyn Ward (East Hampton, N.Y.) tallied five points on 2-of-5 shooting.

Freshman guard Jonae Cox (Portsmouth, Va.) recorded 14 points, including 4-of-8 from behind the arc, while Clark pulled down a game-high nine rebounds for Stony Brook. Senior guard Aaliyah Worley (Philadelphia, Penn.) shot 83% (5-6) from the field for 13 points in the win.

Farmingdale State next opens their Skyline Conference schedule when they travel to play Yeshiva on Tuesday, November 28th at 7:00 p.m.
