Women's Basketball Season Recap

 

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The women's basketball team entered the Skyline Conference playoffs as the #5 seed after finishing the season with a 12-6 record in conference play. In the First Round, the Rams were defeated by the fourth-seeded Dolphins of Mount Saint Vincent, 86-67.

Farmingdale State finished with an overall record of 14-12.

FSC had two All-Skyline Conference players this season. Junior guard Tyra Harrison (Baldwin, N.Y.) was named to the First Team for the second straight year, while junior forward Essence Casey (Huntington Station, N.Y.) earned Second Team honors.

Harrison led the Rams in scoring (14.3 ppg), field goal percentage (.425), assists (73) and was second in steals (66). She ranked fourth in the conference in field goal percentage, sixth for both steals and scoring and eighth in assists.

Casey ranked second on FSC in rebounding (6.2 rpg) and third in both scoring (10.8 ppg) and assists (66).

Sophomore forward AJ Smith (Freeport, N.Y.) led the team in rebounding with 6.9 per game and was second on the team with an average of 13.6 PPG. Junior guard Kaelyn Ward (East Hampton, N.Y.) averaged 8.4 PPG, 5.6 REB/G, 2.8 STL/G, and 2.7 A/G.

FSC graduated five seniors this year.
