FSC Cruises Past Yeshiva

Farmingdale State - 77, Yeshiva - 45


New York, N.Y. - In today's Skyline Conference women's basketball game, Farmingdale State used 11 different scorers to earn a 77-45 win over Yeshiva.

The Maccabees (2-13, 0-10) opened the scoring when senior forward Tess Blaustein (Hollywood, Fla.) hit a 3-pointer just 39 seconds into the game.  

 The Rams (10-7, 8-3) countered by recording the next 17 points to take a 14-point lead, 17-3, as all five FSC starters chipped in during the run that spanned 5:01. FSC took a 20-10 lead into the second quarter.  

 After trading baskets early in the second, the Rams used another strong run, 17-2, to open up a 24-point advantage, 41-17. Farmingdale State took a 43-23 lead into halftime.

Farmingdale State sophomore forward AJ Smith (Freeport, N.Y.) scored a game-high 12 first half points, while Blaustein led Yeshiva with nine points and four assists.

Leading by 29 midway through the third quarter, a pair of free-throws by both Tyra Harrison (Baldwin, N.Y.) and Kaelyn Ward (East Hampton, N.Y.), followed up by an Essence Casey (Huntington Station, N.Y.) traditional 3-point play, opened up a 36-point advantage for the Rams, 61-25.

Yeshiva would outscore the Rams in the fourth, 16-12, but FSC would lead by at least 31 points the rest of the way as they earned the conference win.

Ward led all scorers with 15 points and had a game-high six steals, while junior forward Jasmine Sapp (Islip, N.Y.) added 13 points and nine rebounds off the bench for the Rams.

Junior forward Michal Alge (Boston, Mass.) grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds in 39 minutes for the Maccabees.

The Rams will next host conference opponent Merchant Marine on Tuesday, January 31st at 8:00 p.m.
