Robinson's Buzzer Beater Leads Old Westbury Past FSC

Old Westbury, N.Y. - Old Westbury junior guard Jasmine Robinson (Greenburgh, N.Y.) connected on the game winning 3-pointer as time expired to lead the Panthers to a 56-54 victory on Wednesday night. The Farmingdale State women's basketball team fell to 9-15 overall and 8-7 in the Skyline Conference after the loss.

Farmingdale State took a 35-26 lead into halftime as junior guard Charnae Jenkins (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) led the way for the Rams with a team-high 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting, including 3-for-4 from behind the arc.

A Tyra Harrison (Baldwin, N.Y.) layup with 3:30 remaining in the third put FSC ahead, 43-35, but the Panthers (20-4, 13-2) closed the quarter with five straight points to cut the deficit to 43-40.

With 6:25 remaining and Farmingdale State on top 50-46, Old Westbury used a Ruth Vargas (Brentwood, N.Y.) layup and a pair of free-throws from Monique Joseph (Elmont, N.Y.) to tie game at 50-50.

A Harrison jumper regained the lead for the Rams at 52-51 with 1:22 left to play but Joseph answered with a layup on Old Westbury's next possession. With 17 seconds left on the clock and FSC trailing 53-52, Jenkins hit a jump shot off Camille Romero's (Queens, N.Y.) pass to put the Rams back ahead, 54-53.

As time expired, Robinson hit the game winning 3 to lead Old Westbury to the 56-54 conference victory.

Harrison scored a game-high 17 points, while Jenkins finished with 15 points for the Rams.

The Panthers were led by Robinson's 14 points and Joseph who tallied six points and a game-high 14 rebounds.

The Rams will close out the regular season on Saturday, February 20th when they play host to Mount Saint Vincent at noon.
