Mount Saint Vincent - 92, Farmingdale State - 73


Riverdale, N.Y. - Mount Saint Vincent junior guard Christina Barone (Staten Island, N.Y.) fell one rebound shy of a triple-double as the Dolphins defeated the Farmingdale State women's basketball team 92-73 on Saturday afternoon. Barone finished the game with 15 points, 13 assists and nine rebounds in the victory.

Mount Saint Vincent (10-8, 7-3) outscored the Rams (6-13, 5-6) 21-4 in the first quarter to take an early 17-point lead.

Trailing 42-22 late in the second, Farmingdale State closed the quarter with a Marissa Monaco (Bohemia, N.Y.) 3-pointer and a pair of Tyra Harrison (Baldwin, N.Y.) free-throws to go into halftime down 15, 42-27.

The Dolphins held a 48-34 advantage with 7:10 left to play in the third, before a 3 by junior guard Charnae Jenkins (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) and a Harrison jump shot cut the Rams deficit to 48-39. Mount Saint Vincent answered with a 10-0 run over the next 2:31 to bring the lead back to 19 points at 58-39.

With 6:41 left in the game and the Dolphins ahead 76-59, Monaco and Harrison each hit layups on FSC's next two possessions to close within 13. MSV held at least a 13-point lead the remainder of the way en route to the 92-73 Skyline Conference victory.

Harrison scored a game-high 26 points and added five assists and five steals, while senior guard Camille Romero (Queens, N.Y.) had 21 points and four steals for the Rams.

In addition to Barone's team-high 15 points, junior forward Kristen Merrell (Staten Island, N.Y.) also tallied 15 points to go along with seven rebounds and four assists.

Farmingdale State next will host Mount Saint Mary on Saturday, February 6th at 1:00 p.m.
