Rams Roll Past Purchase for Skyline Win

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's basketball team earned an 86-59 victory over Skyline Conference opponent Purchase College this afternoon in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams now stand at 5-8 on the year, including 4-2 in the conference.

After a low scoring first quarter where Farmingdale State led 13-11, the Rams started the second with an Amanda Masson (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) layup and a pair of free-throws by Tyra Harrison (Baldwin, N.Y.) to open up a six-point advantage at 17-11.

Purchase (1-12, 1-6) cut the deficit to 21-18 with 3:31 left to play in the second quarter, before junior guard Meghan Cleary (East Meadow, N.Y.) connected on a 3 to bring the Farmingdale State lead back to six. The Rams took a 30-24 lead into halftime as Harrison had a team-high 11 points in the half.

Leading 49-36 midway through the third, FSC used a 9-0 run to extend the advantage to 22 points at 58-36. After a layup on Purchase's next possession, the Rams answered with six unanswered points to open up a 26-point lead. Farmingdale State outscored the Panthers 38-16 in the third quarter and led 68-40 heading into the fourth.

The Rams led by as many as 32 late in the fourth en route to the 86-59 victory.

Harrison led all scorers with 31 points and tallied game-high six assists, while senior guard Camille Romero (Queens, N.Y.) had 16 points, five rebounds and four assists.

Purchase was led by sophomore guard Danielle Holmes (Warwick, N.Y.) who poured in a team-high 19 points on 8-of-15 shooting and had 13 boards.

FSC next will head to St. Joseph's-LI for a Skyline matchup on Tuesday, January 12th at 6:00 p.m. Last season Farmingdale State won both regular season games versus St. Joseph's-LI.
