Rams Bounce Back with Win Over Purchase

Farmingdale State - 73, Purchase - 61


Purchase, N.Y. - After losing their first regular season conference game in nearly two years on Saturday, the Farmingdale State women's basketball team bounced back with a 73-61 victory at Purchase on Tuesday.

Tied 14-14, the Rams (3-5, 2-1) used back-to-back 3's from junior guards Meghan Cleary (East Meadow, N.Y.) and Charnae Jenkins (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) to take a six point lead. After Purchase (1-8, 1-2) cut the deficit to 22-17, a jumper by senior forward Aries Adams (Bronx, N.Y.) and a Nicole Gomez (Deer Park, N.Y.) 3-pointer put FSC ahead 27-17 with 5:34 left in the first half.

The Rams increased their lead to 33-18 with 3:00 left on the clock but the Panthers closed the half on a 10-0 run and went into the break trailing 33-28.

Farmingdale State started the third quarter on a 9-2 run over the first 2:28 to bring their advantage to 12 at 42-30. Leading 51-39 late in the third, the Rams increased the lead to 55-39 after back-to-back scores from sophomore guard Tyra Harrison (Baldwin, N.Y.).

In the fourth quarter, FSC led by as many as 19 as they earned the 73-61 road victory.

Harrison led all scorers with 29 points and added eight assists, eight steals and five rebounds. Harrison is averaging 22.5 points per game and is currently ranked 17th in the Nation for scoring. Sophomore guard Marissa Monaco (Bohemia, N.Y.) tallied a season-high 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting, including 4-for-5 from 3-point range.

Purchase was led by Elizabeth Osowiecki (Franklin Square, N.Y.) and Sierra Sangetti-Daniels (Oneonta, N.Y.) as they each scored 16 points.

The Rams next will travel to St. Joseph's-Brooklyn for a Skyline game on Thursday, December 10th at 7:30 p.m.
