2014-15 Women's Basketball Season Recap


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The women's basketball team earned the #1 seed heading into the Skyline playoffs after posting a 12-0 conference record. After a 46-43 victory over #4 Mount Saint Mary in the semifinals, Farmingdale State fell, 76-50, to #2 Mount Saint Vincent in the finals. The Rams finished the season with an 18-9 record.

Junior guard Andrea Desvignes (Deer Park, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Player of the Year and senior guard Nicole Lanteri (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) earned Second Team All-Conference honors. Head Coach Chris Mooney was tabbed the Coach of the Year.

Desvignes, who started 26 games this season, led Farmingdale State in scoring after averaging 18.8 points per game. She also recorded team-high's in steals (107), assists (97), 3-pointers made (58) and was second in free-throw percentage (.731). Lanteri led Farmingdale State in free-throw percentage (.793) and was second in scoring (12.7 ppg), assists (74), steals (63) and 3-point field goal percentage.

Junior forward Marlaina Sherman (Miller Place, N.Y.) averaged 7.3 points and 5.1 rebounds per game, while blocking a team-high 74 shots. Senior guard Jeanette Spillane (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) was FSC's leading rebounder averaging just under seven per game.

Three seniors, Lanteri, Spillane and Camille Romero (Queens, N.Y.) finished their playing careers at Farmingdale State.
