Rams Remain Undefeated in Skyline with Win at Mount Saint Vincent

Riverdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's basketball team improved to a perfect 6-0 in the Skyline Conference after earning a 59-53 victory at Mount Saint Vincent on Tuesday evening.

The Rams (11-8) held a 33-22 lead at the break after junior guard Andrea Desvignes (Deer Park, N.Y.) led the way with 14 points, five rebounds and five steals in the first half.

Farmingdale State led 45-36 with 10:56 remaining before a quick 6-0 Dolphins (13-5, 4-3) run cut the deficit to three, 45-42.

Leading 51-48 with 6:29 left on the clock, the Rams extended their advantage to six after Desvignes connected on a 3-pointer. After an Amanda Masson (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) free-throw put FSC ahead by seven, five unanswered Mount Saint Vincent points pulled the Dolphins within two, 55-53, with 1:55 remaining.

Farmingdale State's defense held Mount Saint Vincent scoreless over the final 1:55 to earn the 59-53 road win.

Desvignes finished with a team-high 21 points, 10 rebounds and seven steals, while senior guard Nicole Lanteri (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) tallied 12 points and five steals. Senior guard Jeanette Spillane (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) also recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 boards for the Rams.

The Dolphins were led by senior center Kelly Fraser (Staten Island, N.Y.) who scored a game-high 23 points and collected 20 rebounds.

Farmingdale State next will host Mount Saint Mary in a Skyline Conference game on Thursday, February 5th at 5:00 p.m.
