Farmingdale State Selected to Capture Women's Basketball Title

New York, N.Y. - In voting conducted by the league's seven head coaches, Farmingdale State has been selected to capture the 2014-15 Skyline Conference women's basketball title.

The Rams earned four first-place votes and 33 overall points to edge Mount Saint Vincent, which received 31 total points and garnered three first-place votes.

Farmingdale State, who won the regular season title last year, welcomes back senior guard Camille Romero (Queens, N.Y.) who is the reigning Skyline Player of the Year. Romero was named Second Team All-Region after averaging 19.8 points per game, while shooting 43% from the field, including 40% from 3-point range.

Junior guard Andrea Desvignes (Deer Park, N.Y.) averaged 10.9 points and 3.6 rebounds a game in 2013-14, while forward Lushanta Savadel (Bellport, N.Y.) enters her senior season after recording a team-high 23 blocks and 9.4 boards per game a year ago.

Joining the Farmingdale State roster this season is junior center Marlaina Sherman (Miller Place, N.Y.) who transferred from Suffolk Community College. At 6'2" tall, she is expected to have an immediate impact in the middle for the Rams.

Nailah Cherry, a 6'0" forward who missed the entire 2013-14 season due to injury, is healthy and ready to return to the lineup this season.
