Rams Earn Sixth Straight Victory with Win at MSMC

Newburgh, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's basketball team defeated Mount Saint Mary, 78-59, earning their sixth straight victory on Saturday afternoon. The Rams improved to 11-7 on the year and 8-1 in Skyline Conference action.

Farmingdale State started quickly and opened up a 12-3 lead in the first six minutes of the game. Leading 21-13, an 8-2 Rams run increased the advantage to 29-15 with 5:52 left in the first half. Farmingdale State did not score a field goal the remainder of the half but took a 32-22 lead into the break. Sophomore guard Andrea Desvignes (Deer Park, N.Y.) led the way with 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting, including 3-for-5 from behind the arc.

The Rams opened the second half on a 19-4 run to open up their largest lead of the game 51-26 with 13:50 remaining. Farmingdale State led by as many as 28 late in the half on their way to the 78-59 Skyline road victory.

Desvignes scored 16 points after shooting 6-for-10 from the field and junior guard Camille Romero (Queens, N.Y.) also tallied 16 points. Senior guard Nicky Young (Queens, N.Y.) recorded 11 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. Young has recorded 18 assists in her last two games for the Rams. Freshman forward Chelsea May (Baldwin, N.Y.) scored a career-high nine points in the win.

Mount Saint Mary (3-15, 3-5) was led by senior forward Rachel Perrone (Poughquag, N.Y.) who recorded a double-double with 20 points and 13 boards, while junior guard Lauren Romao (Brick, N.J.) scored 14 points.

Farmingdale State next will host John Jay in a non-conference game on Wednesday, February 5th at 5:00 p.m.
