Balanced Offense Leads Rams Past Mount Saint Mary

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's basketball team had four double-digit scorers as they earned an 83-59 win over Mount Saint Mary College in a Skyline Conference game this afternoon. The Rams improved to 5-5 overall and 2-0 in conference play, while the Blue Knights fell to 0-11, 0-2.

Leading 25-24 with 6:34 remaining in the first half, an 8-0 Farmingdale State run over the next 1:59 put the Rams ahead by nine, 33-24. Farmingdale State took a 37-29 lead into the break as junior guard Camille Romero (Queens, N.Y.) had 16 points.

After Mount Saint Mary cut the deficit to eight early in the second half, a 12-2 Rams run capped off by an Andrea Desvignes (Deer Park, N.Y.) 3-pointer put Farmingdale State on top 61-43 with 11:16 remaining.

The Rams led by as many as 27 in the closing minutes en route to the 83-59 conference victory.

Senior guard Nicky Young (Queens, N.Y.) had a double-double with 14 points and a career-high 11 assists, while Romero scored a game-high 23 points. Desvignes pitched in with 16 points and senior forward Lushanta Savadel (Bellport, N.Y.) scored 10 and had a game-high 13 rebounds.

The Blue Knights were led by juniors Lauren Romao (Brick, N.J.) and Natalie Candarelli (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) who each scored 13 points.

The Rams next will host No. 3 Amherst (8-0) in a non-conference game on Monday, January 13th at 6:00 p.m.
