2012-13 Women's Basketball Season Recap


 

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's basketball team defeated Purchase, 40-39, in the Skyline Finals and earned a bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament. The Rams lost to sixth-ranked Amherst in the first round of the NCAA's and finished the season with a 12-13 overall record.

Junior guard Nicky Young (Queens, N.Y.) was named First Team All-Skyline, while senior guard Nikita Green (Roosevelt, N.Y.) earned Second Team All-Conference honors.

Young led the team in scoring with 17 points a game and was second in rebounds, assists and steals. Green led the Rams with 112 assists and 78 steals and was second on the team with 11.5 points per game. Senior forward Siohban Purvis (Amityville, N.Y.), who was named the Skyline Tournament's Most Valuable Player, was third on the team in both scoring and rebounding. Junior forward Lushanta Savadel (Bellport, N.Y.) averaged a team-high 8.5 rebounds per game and blocked 30 shots this season.

Farmingdale State will be graduating two seniors this year.
