Fast Start Leads Rams Past Sage

Albany, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's basketball team held a 29-12 lead at halftime en route to a 51-39 victory over Sage on Saturday afternoon. The Rams improved to 7-9 overall and 5-3 in the Skyline, while the Gators dropped to 7-10, 4-5 in conference play.

Leading 9-7 midway through the first half, Farmingdale State closed on a 20-5 run to take a 17-point lead into the break.

The Rams increased their lead to 20, 42-22, with 10:54 remaining in the game. Sage answered with an 8-2 run to cut the deficit to 44-30, but Farmingdale State held a double-digit lead the rest of the way.

Junior guard Nicky Young (Queens, N.Y.) led the Rams with a game-high 17 points and 10 rebounds, while junior forward Lushanta Savadel (Bellport, N.Y.) grabbed a team-leading 13 boards.

Sophomore guard Megan Bowman (Saranac, N.Y.) scored 15 points and had five assists for the Gators.

Farmingdale State next will travel to NYU-Poly on Thursday, January 31st at 6:00 p.m.
