Rams Fall to #7 Amherst

#7 Amherst - 72, Farmingdale State - 48


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's basketball team fell, 72-48, as they hosted seventh-ranked Amherst College tonight in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Lord Jeffs improved to a perfect 13-0, while the Rams dropped to 4-5 on the season.

Amherst held a 10-point lead at the break, 36-26, behind a 15-point first half on 6-of-6 shooting from sophomore forward Megan Robertson (Tewksbury, Mass.).

The Rams opened the second half on a 9-2 run to cut the deficit to three, 38-35, capped off by a three-point play from junior guard Nicky Young (Queens, N.Y.) with 16:52 remaining. Amherst responded with a 16-0 run to extend their lead to 54-35. The Lord Jeffs held the double-digit lead throughout en route to their 13th win of the season.

Farmingdale State was led by senior guard Nikita Green (Roosevelt, N.Y.) who had 15 points, while Young added 14 points.

Robertson scored a game-high 25 points for Amherst, on 10-for-10 shooting, along with nine rebounds and four blocks.

Amherst recorded assists on 23 of their 27 baskets.

The Rams next will host The Sage Colleges in a Skyline Conference game on Wednesday, January 9th at 6:00 p.m.
