Blakney's 50 Point Triple-Double Not Enough for Rams

Riverdale, N.Y. - Junior guard Kimberly Blakney
(Brooklyn, N.Y./Benjamin Banneker) posted 50 points, 15 rebounds
and 10 steals to register her second career triple-double, but it
was not enough as Farmingdale State (16-8, 14-4) fell 102-98
against the College of Mount Saint Vincent (15-10, 14-4) on
Saturday afternoon.
The Rams were behind at the half, 43-32, and came back strong in the second to outscore the Dolphins 66-59. Junior forward Gabby Green (North Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon) scored the game-tying layup for Farmingdale State, making it 95-95 with 48 seconds left to play. Mount Saint Vincent's junior guard Karissa Koerner (Bay Shore, N.Y./Brentwood) responded with a jumper to put her team back up, 97-95, and the Dolphins made 5-of-6 free throws over the final 16 seconds to secure the win.
Rams freshman guard Shemique Hooks (Westbury, N.Y./Westbury) finished with 15 points, Green finished with 13 points and eight rebounds, and junior guard Kamaya Miller (Brooklyn, N.Y./Midwood) had 11 points and five steals.
Mount Saint Vincent had five players in double figures, including freshman guard Ashley Ruiz (Carmel, N.Y./Carmel) with 27 points, Koerner with 22 points, freshman guard Jen Macanu (Middletown, N.J./Middletown North) with 22 points, junior center Courtney Heeseman (New Hyde Park, N.Y./New Hyde Park) scored 19 points and junior guard Lauren Percodani (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Joseph by the Sea) rounded out the crew with 11 points and nine assists.
Farmingdale State will be the #2 seed for the Skyline Conference Playoffs and will host the Semifinal game on Thursday, February 26th at 6:00 p.m., against the winner of #6 St. Joseph's at #3 Mount Saint Vincent.
