Farmingdale, N.Y. - Farmingdale State fell to Baruch College, 78-71, tonight in a non-conference women's basketball game in Farmingdale, N.Y. After falling behind by 19 points in the first half, the Rams outscored the Bearcats in the second, behind Kimberly Blakney's (Brooklyn, N.Y./Benjamin Banneker) triple-double of 21 points, 14 rebounds and 10 steals. But the comeback was not enough, as Farmingdale fell to 0-3 this season.

Baruch shot 63-percent from the floor in the first half and took a 46-25 edge into the lockerroom. Senior guard Karlee Whipple (Lund, Nev./Lund) led with 10 points for the half, while Rams freshman guard Shemique Hooks (Westbury, N.Y./Westbury) scored 13 in the first.

Blakney led all scorers in the second half, using 16 points, seven rebounds and seven steals to complete her triple-double. The Rams completed a five-point play by Hooks and Blakney with 13:59 on the clock to cut the deficit to 10 points, 45-55. Farmingdale continued to pressure the Bearcats and would find themselves trailing by just seven points, 60-67, at the six minute mark. With 45 seconds to go, the Rams would come within four points, 71-75, before Whipple hit a Baruch three-pointer to seal the victory.

Whipple led the Bearcats with 18 points, while three others scored in double figures. For Farmingdale State, Blakney and Hooks both finished with 21 points and junior forward Gabrielle Green (North Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon) had 10 points, seven rebounds and three blocks.

The Rams will open up their Skyline Conference schedule against Polytechnic on Tuesday, December 2nd at 6:00 p.m., while the men's team will follow at 8:00 p.m.
